The Rug Show USA announced its return to the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey on September 7-9, 2024. As a premier industry fair, The Rug Show offers attendees a place to buy new products, meet new rug makers, as well as learn and build connections through networking.
 
“The Rug Show has always been an exceptional opportunity to see and source from an incredible collection of products in one location,” said show organizer Jack Simantob of Art Resources. “This communal approach creates the best purchasing environment for our industry’s customers.”

New York City-based design studio, Lucy Tupu LLC has announced the launch of Lucy Tupu Studio, alongside the inaugural exhibition of the Max Gimblett rug collection in beautiful Aotearoa, New Zealand. 

"Lucy Tupu Studio is officially open for business on two continents. We are excited to collaborate with the talented design community and private clients in Aotearoa, New Zealand, all while maintaining our extensive ongoing projects in New York," said Tupu.

The Common Thread for the Cure, a non-profit organization that supports people battling breast cancer within the home furnishings industry, had a visible presence during High Point Market gifting Pink Pixie desk lamps to attendees sporting the color pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Lamp recipients were not only surprised that wearing pink netted them a reward, but were grateful to learn about an organization that is doing such meaningful work to support their peers in the industry.

Kalaty Rug Corporation brings the company’s latest artisanal area rugs and programs to Booth 550 at Boutique Design NY, the upcoming hospitality market to be held November 12 & 13 at New York’s Javits Center. While Kalaty has been serving the hospitality industry for decades, in early 2023 the company created a new division, Kalaty Hospitality, solely devoted to the hospitality sector of the marketplace. Boutique Design NY (BDNY) marks the first show for the new Kalaty Hospitality division.

TROY, N.C. — Jesse Smith Capel passed away on October 20 at the age of 90.

Born on November 17, 1932, Capel graduated in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in textile management from N.C. State University. He first served in the U.S. Army, then joined the family business, Capel, Inc., in 1957, where he made significant contributions in the areas of finance, importing and manufacturing until his retirement in 2007.
