After more than 40 years of exhibiting in Market Square, Capel Rugs is moving to a new showroom at 200 N. Hamilton St. for the Oct. 26-30 High Point Market. Capel Rugs' new showroom, located in space 110, measures nearly 9,000 square feet, more than double the space of its previous showroom on the first floor of Market Square.
The new space will allow the company to show a much larger selection of its diverse line, including its wide selection of hand knots, indoor-outdoor designs, American Original braids and one-of-a-kind heirloom rugs.
"We've had a long, successful run at Market Square, but we're super-excited about the fresh opportunities that our new showroom at 200 N. Hamilton offers," said Cameron Capel, president – sales and marketing for Capel Rugs. "Our showroom is right in the heart of the Hamilton Wrenn Design District, a popular destination for leading furniture stores, home accent stores and designers. Many of the nation's leading furniture brands show in this area, so we expect to draw a lot of new prospects into our showroom who may not have shopped our line before."
To kick off its move, Capel Rugs will hold a ribbon-cutting party for all its customers from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. The party will feature specialty drinks, a cheese-and-fruit board and other hors d'oeuvres plus "a few surprises," Capel said.
In addition, Capel Rugs is teaming up with Chelsea House, Wildwood and Fairfield Chair – three of its neighbors on the first level of the 200 N. Hamilton showroom building – for a "Cocktail Crawl" on Sunday, Oct. 27. Slated to take place from 4-6 p.m., each of the four showrooms will offer a seasonal cocktail along with a mix of creative hors d'oeuvres.
The event is geared to interior designers, who will be offered the chance to win a prize by having a "passport" stamped at each of the participating showrooms. The prizes include a free home furnishings item from each of the four companies, which will be awarded via a raffle drawing of the stamped passports.
"The 'Cocktail Crawl' will be an easy way for designers to see the latest offerings from all four of our companies," Capel said. "The chance to win a beautiful piece of furniture or rug adds an extra touch of fun to the evening."
In addition, a group of musicians will provide entertainment throughout the event in the open courtyard that faces Hamilton Street.
"We think this new showroom will be a win-win for our customers," Capel said. "The additional space will give us the ability to show many more rugs. We'll have individual rooms that are dedicated to specific types of construction, making each part of our line much easier to shop. We'll also have space to show more colorways for our best sellers so that retailers and designers can get a better sense of the range of choices we offer."
In addition to being open throughout the five days of the High Point Market, Capel Rugs' new 200 N. Hamilton showroom will be open year-round to the trade from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
