Turquoise Mountain is launching two new collections of handwoven Afghan carpets at Victor Gallery in New York, at an exclusive 2,000 sq ft pop-up to be held from September 13-15, 2025.

In addition to new Mamluk-inspired and Khotan collections, the show will also feature more than 100 carpets from Turquoise Mountain’s established collections, incorporating traditional, transitional and contemporary designs in wool, silk, and wool-silk blends. All the carpets are hand-knotted by weavers that the organisation supports in Afghanistan.

The show will also feature pieces from the Weaving Poems series created by Afghan designer Maryam Omar, following a dedicated exhibition at Sotheby’s in London. Maryam’s designs are inspired by poems associated with traditional weaving practices and the natural and cultural landscapes of the Bamiyan valley in central Afghanistan. Maryam will be part of the Turquoise Mountain team at the event.

In addition to these collections, Turquoise Mountain offers bespoke commissions and design collaborations, with expert teams in the U.S. and Afghanistan supporting clients through every stage of the design and production process. All Turquoise Mountain carpets are independently audited by our fair-trade partner, Label STEP.

About Turquoise Mountain

Turquoise Mountain supports artisans to protect and revitalise their heritage. Founded in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III, our work is rooted in the belief that cultural heritage has the power to transform lives. We work directly with artisan communities in

Afghanistan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia and the Levant. To date, we have supported over 11,000 artisans across over 80 craft traditions, restored more than 170 historic buildings, and provided primary healthcare and education for artisans’ families.

Partnering with prestigious international clients, we have brought over $37 million worth of craft products to market, sharing world-class traditions with a global clientele and bringing vital income back to the artisan communities we work with. Our brand partners and clients include Asprey, Jo Malone, Christopher Farr Rugs, Creative Matters, interior designers Guy Oliver and Robert Couturier, and luxury hoteliers including The Connaught, Four Seasons and Fairmont. Together we develop products and bespoke commissions inspired by heritage traditions for contemporary markets. We also collaborate with major cultural institutions to commission and exhibit artisans’ museum-quality work for global audiences - from the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC.

Turquoise Mountain’s carpet program in Afghanistan is generously supported by the Qatar Fund For Development.
