From Saturday, September 9 through Monday, September 11, the New York/New Jersey area rug trade was abuzz with the arrival of the annual Autumn trade shows. Cover Connect New York took place in Manhattan, and The Rug Show was held in Secaucus, New Jersey. The two trade shows offered up a combined total of nearly 70 exhibitors, with area rug vendors from the United States and abroad convening on the shows, and displaying their freshest rug offerings.
In New York City, Cover Connect took over the adjoining spaces from the Metropolitan Pavilion and the Altman Building, with a robust number of attendees checking out the dozens of rug exhibitors, who were displaying all manner of modern and contemporary area rugs.
In New Jersey, The Rug Show ran strong at the Meadowlands Exposition Center, with numerous vendors displaying a variety of modern rugs, as well as the return of the Antique Rug Pavilion, with some rug industry veterans exhibiting a range of fine antique carpets.
Both shows were well attended, and each had its own celebration on Sunday night, September 10, with Cover Connect offering up a cocktail party, and The Rug Show providing a full Persian buffet, with live music and a belly dancer. With all of the positive energy and activity coming out of these two shows, the area rug trade has been given a great launching point from which to head into the fall selling season.
We look forward to next year's shows, but in the meantime, here are some of the friendly faces spotted both at Cover Connect and at The Rug Show! Enjoy!
