It is one of the most traditional methods of printing textiles in India. The art of Tie-Dye, said to originate in the Jaipur City of Rajasthan, uses a variety of patterns, with each motif having its own significance. Amer Rugs has just introduced its first-ever Tie and Dye Collection of rugs, which feature this traditional, hand-dyeing process.
It all begins with white wool, which is loomed by hand into a flat rug. Next, sections of the rugs are tightly bound with thread to resist the dye solution, creating unique, variegated patterns. Like all tie-dye products, no two rugs will be exactly alike. The rugs feature colorfast synthetic dyes so colors won’t fade or bleed. Rugs come in six standard colors and two sizes, 5x8 and 8x10. Custom colors and sizes are available with a two-month turnaround. The Tie and Dye Collection suits modern and traditional settings. For more information, visit: www.amerrug.com.
