Nazmiyal Exhibits Decorative Sultanabad Rugs |
Nazmiyal Collection launched a stunning exhibit of antique Sultanabad rugs in their New
York gallery on Feb. 8. The public is welcome to view the collection
daily from 9 AM until 5:30 PM
through Feb. 26.
After years of searching, collecting, and refining a coveted selection of
Sultanabads, Nazmiyal is proud to put these fine pieces on exhibition for
the public. The Sultanabad Exhibition will display the unique
beauty of these Persian rugs with their fantastic color schemes and
brilliant all-over designs and will include a selection of many true
original Zieglers.
During the late 19th century, the German firm Hotz & Son & Ziegler & Co.
commissioned a number of Sultanabads to be made to suit western demands.
This new western influence in Persian rugs called for large-scale, all-over
design, and used softer color schemas than traditional Persian rugs.
Although Sultanabads were produced in the same region as Farahans and
Sarouks, they are easily distinguishable due to their designs and colors.
Their unique elements set them apart from any other class of rugs, which
makes them desirable to collectors. Their soft color palette and open,
large-scale design makes them desirable to designers. In truth, anyone can
appreciate these wonderful pieces of art.
The Nazmiyal Collection gallery is located at 31 E 32nd St. 2nd Fl, New York, NY. For more information call (212) 545-8029, visit www.nazmiyalantiquerugs.com.
