Swinging Parties Set Lively Scene at Atlanta Market |
The January Intl. Area Rug Market in Atlanta was party central on
opening day, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, with companies celebrating
anniversaries, hosting celebrity book signings, presenting teaching
seminars, sharing new products and simply boosting industry morale.
Having Fun at the Loloi Rugs Showroom Party
At Loloi Rugs, a rockin’ band, full bar and totally upbeat mood kicked off the Rug Market on a high note. The company sent out pre-market invitations that said “New Year, New Products, New Optimism,” with owner Amir Loloi adding, “It’s time to have fun again.” Attendees of the party did just that.
In honor of its 30th year in business, Nourison provided a lavish spread of hors d'oeuvres and libations in its elegant AmericasMart showroom, as the Peykar family welcomed the industry to share in its jubilant anniversary.

Opening Night at Zollanvari
Zollanvari, opening night of Market proved to be the perfect
time for an Architectural Digest-sponsored soirée, complete with a
detailed seminar on Gabbeh carpets, hosted by Zollanvari’s Reza
Zollanvari and Sanjay Purohit.

Safavieh Opened Their New 13,000 square foot AmericasMart Showroom in Style
Safavieh only had to mention celebrity designer Thom Filicia and
Market attendees swarmed the showroom Thursday evening to get an
autographed copy of his book “Thom Filicia Style” and view his new
tufted rug collection.
At Kalaty, a meet-and-greet with charming designer Carol Bolton
was a family affair with Bolton’s children and husband ready for
photo-ops with the congenial Kalaty clan. Two days later, one of the
new vintage Carol Bolton rugs earned Kalaty an America’s Magnificent
Carpets Award.
Surya kicked off the season and Market with an in-showroom
cocktail party on Thursday, inviting guests to enjoy complimentary hors
d'oeuvres and drinks, and view this season’s latest rug and accessory
collections. Also adding to the festivities, an authentic henna tattoo
artist was scheduled at the party and in the showroom daily during
market to indulge guests in the ancient art form.
