WINTER MARKET WATCH
 Karastan rang in the new year and launched the new decade with several new rug introductions at the 2010 Atlanta Rug Market. Highlights from Atlanta included two new additions to the original Karastan Collection and the launch of couture-inspired Woven Impressions Collection, plus all-new eco-friendly Mamma Mia Collection. A new member of the Original Karastan Collection loaded with visual texture, Bella Rosa (shown left) is casually classic in style and fashion forward in color. It works bold reds with natural shades to create organic decorating and a lush, fresh look. Available in 5'9: x 9', 8'8" x 10'6, 8'8" x 12' and custom sizes. Bella Rosa can be custom hand-seamed to create custom size rugs in a fraction of the time it would take to weave and import a similar piece.
 Persian Garden #728, (right) also a new addition to the Original Karastan
collection, is a timeless design at home with contemporary,
transitional and traditional decors.
Inspired by a beautiful antique Persian rug,
showcases the masterful combination of color and design achievable on
Karastan’s Axminster looms. The intricacies of the stylized floral
pattern and the fashionable “ombre” effect of Persian Garden make this
rug a visual garden of delight.
Woven of luxurious fully worsted New Zealand wool with Luster-wash,
Persian Garden and Bella Rosa will maintain their soft feel and
stunning color for generations.
Taking its design cues from today’s most fashionable statements in home
furnishings and couture, Karastan’s Woven Impressions (below) collection makes
an impression with its style, versatility and performance.
Woven Impressions features three distinctive transitional looks that
play well together or are dynamic all on their own. (From left to right) Diamond Ikat: a geometric lattice with
an artisanal hand-woven spirit, Beaded Curtain, a
contemporary stripe with sass and Vintage Batik: lacey elegance with
a hand-dyed look.
Constructed of 100% Wools of New Zealand Brand wool each rug is
available in luscious indigo, chili pepper, curry or the espresso/black
combination.
Mamma Mia Rugs (above) is a new Karastan collection that has already played a major role in an eco-spectacular designer showcase.
Eco-smart and stylish, Mamma Mia is a soft, beefy shag crafted of
SmartStrand® Sorona®. This rugs was selected to grace the great room of
the CharityWorks GreenHouse, the first carbon neutral house on the East
Coast. The goal of the project was to get people to start to look at
living green in a whole new way and to show the public that there is
such a thing as “luxurious sustainable living.”
Offering incredibly soft comfort, amazing durability and stain
resistance, Mamma Mia is available in fashion colors in mineral shades
