LOS ANGELES, CA — Strong praise is pouring in for the debut of LA Rug Week, held Sunday, March 17-19, 2013. As the majority of the country ushered in spring with frigid temperatures and snow, West Coast rug producers treated buyers to sunny skies and warm hospitality, pulling out all the stops for retailers from coast to coast. The result was a united effort that gave area rug retailers a new spring buying venue, slated to become an annual event.
"The West Coast rug producers are some of the most creative innovators in the rug world," said Rebecca Lurie of Kush Handmade Rugs in Portland, OR. "It was exciting to have a show that focused on our side of the country. We got to see entire collections, not just what fit into market showrooms. Plus LA is fun."
Brian Robins of Kush agreed. "We didn't mind visiting several different showrooms," he said. "They were mostly close together and it was fun to see the different presentations."
