Two evening cocktail events in two cities launch the fifth annual fall area rug buying extravaganza.

On Monday, Sept. 15 the official New York at Night cocktail party gets started at Ravagh Persian Grill, 11 East 30th Street, between 5th and Madison. The New York-style fun begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m. This relaxed evening, complete with a three-piece jazz band, is the perfect way to end your first buying day, network and catch up with friends.

Reward for Missing Zodiac Tapestries |
Three antique zodiac tapestry panels each measuring approx. 2ft. 6in. x 11ft. from a set of 12 are missing. Each tapestry, as seen with photo of similar design panel from set, shown left, has a different animal that is seen with a shield on which the symbol for a specific sign of the zodiac is shown. (Click here for enlarged and close-up photo details.) The animals and zodiac shield appear on a circle of green or green ground setting filled with plants, flowers, and at times smaller animals. A tree design is shown growing from this same area, and midway up its trunk hangs a light colored pennant with a black colored design. Vines grow up to right and left of the tree and form a canopy of leaves and fruit or flowers that arches over the pennant. Above are three heraldic coat of arms with supporters accompanied by banners with mottoes woven. These coat of arms often have a crown on top with metallic threads used.

NYICS Special Buyers' Preview Opening Sept. 16 |
The New York International Carpet Show (NYICS) announced plans for a special buyers' preview opening from 2-8 pm on Tues., Sept. 16th to allow visitors additional time to select from the extraordinary high-end carpets to be introduced at the show.
Regular show days continue from Weds. September 17 through Fri., Sept. 19 from 10 am - 6 pm daily. A reception is also planned for Sept. 17, from 4-6 pm during buying hours.

Winners of ‘One Good Chair’ Competition Announced at Las Vegas Market |
